In support of IAM member Jeff Halbert's daughter, Rory, IAM members donated a total of 409 miles swam to Team Rory to help raise awareness and money for Autoimmune Encephalitis. The total goal was to have 1,152 miles "donated" from all sources. That's the approximate distance that Rory must travel each month to receive care. As such, IAM members are urged to continue to run, walk, swim, or bike for Team Rory and/or make a donation to the Autoimmune Encephalitis Alliance. Thank you!
Indy Aquatic Masters was named USMS 2014 Local Club of the Year at this year's USMS Convention. USMS began recognizing a Club of the Year in 2006. Successful USMS clubs develop programs that draw people in, support their swimmers, and set standards for other clubs to follow. The Club of the Year award recognizes the efforts of the great clubs that embody these attributes. Learn what makes IAM special and why this is a team you should be proud of.
This is definitely a team effort and the IAM staff thanks of all of our members for being part of the program. You are truly what makes IAM a special program and we love working with you every day!
THANK YOU, IAM!
IAM recently received a letter from Chris Clarke's wife, Jane. The initial donations from IAM have been used by the Verbal Behavior Center for Austism to purchase and install a new security system at the school. Pictured to the right are VBCA Board Members, Jane Clarke and John Duffin, and new Executive Director, Breanne Hartley. Thanks to the IAM donations, the security system at the school is much easier to operate and the kids are safer. Thank you for your generosity in Chris' name.
The swimming community is mourning the loss of a great friend and teammate. On June 22, 2014, Chris Clarke, 45, was participating in the Indy Open Water Challenge when he was pulled from the water.
Words cannot express the depth and magnitude of grief being felt by his Indy Aquatic Masters teammates and his friends in the greater swimming community. Anyone who knew Chris felt his enthusiasm for life and his passion for swimming.
See the full tribute to Chris.
Congratulations to Mel Goldstein who is not only on the FINA Masters Committee, but has also been named the new Vice Chair. Way to go, Mel!
